Internet/E-Mail Fraud Alert
Recently, there have been multiple e-mail fraud attempts, known as "Phishing”, that were initiated via e-mail sent to both the general public and to some credit union members that appeared to be official correspondence from financial institutions and even from
CUNA or the
NCUA.
These false e-mails may ask for the recipient to click on a link to verify their credit union account information. If the recipient proceeds to do so, the link directs them to a false website and asks for their credit union account number and PIN, along with other personal information.
We will never ask you to provide personal information via e-mail, and we will not send you e-mail directing you to click on any links. The same holds true for e-mail messages from CUNA (Credit Unions National Association) or the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration).
Anyone who receives an e-mail that purports to be from Ripco Credit Union, CUNA or the NCUA and asks for account information should consider it to be a fraudulent attempt to obtain their personal account data for an illegal purpose and should not follow the instructions in the e-mail.
If you receive such an e-mail, please do not click on any of the links provided. Please simply forward the e-mail to us (ripco@ripco.org) and delete it from your e-mail folder. REMINDER: This e-mail link is provided for your convenience. E-mail is not secure and information can be read by others. Do not e-mail information such as passwords, social security numbers, account numbers, mother's maiden name, etc. |
